At Cat In The Hat we understand that the right wine can elevate a fine meal into a sublime experience.
Our wines are chosen very carefully. To be included on our list a wine must fulfil several criteria, most importantly it must be a good food wine. It must be interesting, well balanced, be an expression of terroir and grape, and it must be good value for money.
Our list includes a very wide range of grape varieties, from the popular ‘Noble Grapes’ to the less well known. We try to include as many styles and regions as possible, although we do lean towards ’old world’ wines as we feel they are not as well represented in the marketplace, and they deserve to be.
We have worked very hard to ensure that our list will offer something for everyone, from the casual imbiber to the connoisseur. We use award winning suppliers, and taste every wine before selecting it. We stock a wine that will complement every dish on our menu, and can happily recommend a suitable bottle.
Our wines are served in Italian blown crystal glasses, at the correct temperature and we are happy to decant the more tannic reds upon request. For those who prefer their white wine colder than the textbook temperature, we have the means to chill the wine rapidly.
We serve a good range of house wines by the glass, including a dessert wine, and we also have half bottles on our list.
We also stock a wide selection of spirits, boutique liqueurs, beers and soft drinks such as Luscombe Farm Organics.
